About Us

The HERO Alliance — Homeownership Education and Resource Opportunities — is a nonprofit organization that provides education, resources, and assistance for people with disabilities seeking homeownership in Colorado. HERO has been assisting low-income persons with disabilities by empowering them with the information and assistance needed to achieve homeownership. Since 1992, HERO has assisted over 1800 individuals and families become successful homeowners.

HERO is a collaboration of lenders, people with disabilities, advocates, Realtors, governmental personnel and others have been committed to creating homeownership opportunities for people with disabilities and low incomes in Colorado. We have shown that collaboration breaks down barriers and that information builds confidence and self-sufficiency.

HERO Alliance Programs

Housing Counseling: one-on-one pre-purchase housing counseling for persons with disabilities who need additional assistance preparing themselves for homeownership,

Education and Outreach: first-rate educational presentations to potential HERO consumers, their support networks and real estate professionals,

Information and Referral Services: ongoing source of information and referrals for professionals and one-on-one assistance to HERO consumers via information referral line and website; and

Homeowner Advocacy: serves as an advocate and resource for persons with disabilities that are, or hope to become homeowners, and coordinate an ongoing team or professionals that support homebuyers.
